Help for my child

Finding out that your child may have an eating disorder can be overwhelming. It’s common for parents to feel helpless, and meal times feel like you’re walking on eggshells. You just want to feel confident in feeding your child again, and nourish them for best growth and development.

Parents play a crucial role in their child’s Eating Disorder recovery.

With the right help, team, and treatment approach, you can regain your confidence in feeding your child and navigate the recovery journey to help your child thrive again.

Our dietitians at DDD Centre for Recovery receive high level of Eating Disorders training and ongoing professional development and supervision. We are trained in the RAVES model for nutritional rehabilitation, Motivational Interviewing, FBT, CBT-E, ACT, and DBT. Each of our dietitians have unique specialty areas to further tailor the treatment that’s most suitable for your child.

Treatment Guidelines and Policies for Young Persons at DDD Centre for Recovery

Eating disorders’ impact go beyond the young person and can have significant effect on their families. Therefore, at DDD Centre for Recovery, a Pre-Assessment (30 minutes) with the parent(s) is required for all clients aged 15 or younger. This will then be followed by an Initial Assessment of 90 minutes with the Young Person and the parent(s) within the week to ensure swift and appropriate support can be provided.

We offer treatment and support for the following eating disorders for Young Persons:

  • Anorexia Nervosa

  • Bulimia Nervosa

  • Binge Eating Disorder

  • ARFID

  • OSFED (including “Atypical” Anorexia Nervosa)

*Please note that, for clients aged 16-18, we may also request a Pre-Assessment first with the parent(s) only prior to involving the Young Person, in instances where the presentation is complex. Our team will let you know in advance in our intake call should this be the case, so please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0430 391 951 or info@dddcfr.com.au if you have any questions.
