What is the Meal Support Program?
The Group meal Support Program sessions are operated by DDD for the purpose of providing support for our clients who are struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating, particularly those who may benefit from additional support around meal times to facilitate regular and adequate nutrition intake.
The Group Meal Support Program is not a substitute for independent professional advice from your dietitian, or other treating health professional. The information and support provided in the sessions is not intended to be used as medical advice or to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Who is the Group for?
Clients at DDD currently receiving individual treatment for their eating disorders or disordered eating
Age 18 years and over
Purpose of this Program
The purpose of this Program is to help participants:
build insight regarding their relationship with food and eating
engage in experiential activities aimed at emotional expression and regulation, cognitive challenging, and goal setting
build meaningful connections with others within group who have similar experiences
gain practical skills and tools toward making peace with food and eating
What happens in the Program?
The Meal Support runs at lunch time on Mondays and Fridays for 45-minutes, on DDD’s telehealth platform.
Participants are required to have their meal ready to be eaten during the session.
Participants are encouraged to complete their meal in the session.
In each sessions, the facilitator will host activities which will work as a distraction technique, and/or group discussions, to help you practice eating without engaging in eating disorder behaviours or thoughts, so that you can nourish your body.
Date & Time
Mondays 12:00-12:45pm (45 minutes session)
